It is a free application developed by Dexcom that provides real-time glucose readings for patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes every five minutes. The Dexcom G6 System is approved for children age 2 and older.
With the Dexcom G6 System, users can always know their glucose number and where it’s heading with just a quick glance at their compatible smartphone or smartwatch. The application provides personalized trend alerts right on the user's smart device and lets them see when their glucose levels are going too low or too high, so they can better manage their diabetes. The Alert Schedule feature lets users schedule and customize a second set of alerts. Custom alert sounds are available, including a Vibrate-Only option on the phone for glucose alerts. The Always Sound setting allows users to receive certain Dexcom CGM Alerts even if their phone sound is off, set to vibrate, or in Do Not Disturb mode.
